Our Program
Keystone Christian Homeschoolers meets weekly throughout the school year. The teaching load is shared equally, with each family taking turns leading classes. Every subject is taught from a Biblical perspective, with all ages learning together in a one-room schoolhouse style.

What We Study
Science
"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." Psalm 19:1
Engaging lessons and experiments — including a yearly science fair — lead children to appreciate and better understand God's amazing creation.
Music
"Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise." Psalm 33:3
Lessons in singing, recorder, famous composers and the orchestra teach children to appreciate godly music and to make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
Art
"Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work…" Exodus 35:35
Lessons in drawing, painting, handicrafts and artist study cultivate an appreciation for beauty and help children develop their God-given creativity to bless others and glorify God.
Physical Education
"Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you…" 1 Corinthians 6:19
Lessons in personal fitness, sports, classic games and health teach children to be good stewards of their bodies, with plenty of variety to keep them active.
Public Speaking
"…be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you…" 1 Peter 3:15
Children give two-minute presentations on a variety of topics, then receive friendly feedback from the audience — helping them grow comfortable speaking in front of others so they will be prepared to speak truth boldly.
Unit Studies
"Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established…" Proverbs 24:3–4
Themed lessons weave together music, art, social studies, science and literature around a single topic — from dinosaurs to the Civil War to faraway Thailand — sparking a love of learning and exposing children to a wide variety of knowledge.
Field Trips
Field trips and play dates throughout the school year and summer spark curiosity and deepen friendships beyond the classroom.
Standardized Testing
Each Spring, members may take part in multi-day, drop-off testing at Keystone Christian Academy for Kindergarten through 6th grade, using the Iowa Assessments.
Ages & Grades
Our curriculum is geared toward the elementary levels — Kindergarten through 6th grade. Preschoolers, as well as toddlers and babies, are welcome to attend and participate as they are able. Families are welcome even before their children reach school age, provided they share in the teaching. Our classes are designed for ages 12 and under, so older siblings may participate as observers and helpers rather than as students.
